In present work the composite films were prepared by adding PVA in chloroform to 10 wt% solution with proper stirring using mechanical stirrer. The prepared solution was used for preparing the composite films by pouring the solution on a petri dish. The composite films by adding various proportions of granite powder (1, 2 and 3 wt.%) were also prepared to compare their mechanical performance. The prepared composites were observed to be in brown colour with homogeneous mixing of the granite powder. The prepared films of without and with granite powder were characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM and tensile tests. The maximum tensile strength of the composite films with 1wt.% to 3wt.% granite powder filled varied between (106–149 MPa) and increased with granite powder content when compared to the composites without granite powder. Based on the improved tensile properties and photo resistivity by the granite powder addition, the composite films may be considered for packaging and wrapping of flowers and vegetables. ER -
