The optimum sizing allows us to acheive the lowest possible energy losses, distributed generation size and battery storage in a microgrid. This paper shows how to get a protocol to optimal sizing of the microgrid from solar panels, batteries, and the appropriate inverter size. Conducting a case study to size the PV system for the electrical engineering department building at Mustansiriya university, Baghdad. The photovoltaic system is designed by a flow back strategy that starts from the loads to the solar panels, passing through the inverter and storage batteries. Takeing into account that this design changes due to the difference in temperature conditions, the number of daylight hours, and it can be adjusted for another area by changing the panel generation factor. The number of solar panels and batteries can be increased or decreased by choosing larger or smaller energy capacities. The optimal sizing of the PV array and storage battery capacity that provide the necessary energy is achieved for the case study stand-alone PV system building. ER -
