Abstract

This study examines the deterioration of the bearing capacity of shallow foundations based on high gypsum soils near water sources and knowing the extent of this deterioration. The study was  conducted on gypsum soils with a gypsum content of up to 62%, where this sample was taken from the site of the Tikrit University campus. The study consists of three cases, the time of water infiltration(1day,2days and 3days)the distance of the hole for each time (B/2, B and 3B/2). and the depth of the hole for each distance (B/2, B and 3B/2) The amount of deterioration in the bearing capacity of gypsum soil was compared with the bearing capacity of standard soil without any water seepage, where the amount of deterioration in ultimate of bearing capacity was between 3.1%-83.6% for all cases.
