Experimental Investigation on DI Diesel Engine using Acetylene Blends with Biodiesel
Decreasing the engine emission and protecting environment by using vegetable oil is the recent focus of biodiesel with acetylene research. The Experimental work is carried in a single cylinder, direct injection, water cooled compression ignition engine. The loads are applied to the engine using the eddy current dynamometer. Fuel acetylene is injected at an angle of 45˚ in the inlet manifold of the engine ranging from 1 LPM to 5 LPM (liter per minute) with an increase of 1 LPM. Diesel and biodiesel are injected with a direct injection (DI). AVL smoke meter and AVL Digas analyzer are used to measure smoke and exhaust gasses such as NOx, HC and CO. The combustion parameter, such as the cylinder pressure, was measured with the AVL combustion analyser. The optimum blend is B20MEOA+ A 3LPM. The best blend is selected on the basis of performance, combustion and emission parameters.
