Behaviour of Simply Supported Two Way Slabs with Gfrp and Steel Reinforcements in Punching Shear
Abstract
This article presents the behaviour of hybrid reinforcement in two-way slab elements tested in punching shear load. In conventional steel-reinforced two-way slabs, the GFRP reinforcement varies in 0, 28.57, 57.14, 85.71, and 100%. The performances of the hybrid reinforced slabs are studied for failure loads, load-deflection behaviour, stiffness, and ductility characteristics. In all observations, the hybrid reinforced slabs and slab with 100% steel reinforcement showed superior performance to the slab reinforced with 100%GFRP. The provisions of IS 456and ACI318 for estimating the punching shear load are verified and found to be inconsistent with test results. A regression model is proposed and examined to predict test results with good accuracy. The model provided a 5% deviation from test results.
