Abstract

In terms of the populated cities and peculiar social tradition, there are some buildings with special fire features in China. Different kinds of buildings have various fire risk factors, the index weights of which are also different. According to the current fire facilities daily inspected by Chinese Fire Department, present study employed AHP to develop the fire risk assessment systems for Chinese buildings. Based on building functions, the buildings are divided into five categories: Factories, Hotels, Malls, Schools and Entertainment venues. At the same time, the cluster analysis was applied in the systems. By analyzing the index weights of the five kinds of buildings, the paper proved that the categorization of the buildings for fire risk assessment is necessary, and advice this classification method based on the index weight should be applied in fire risk assessment for Chinese buildings.
