Review and Prospect of Information Dissemination Models in Online Social Network

Abstract

Internet rapid development and mobile intelligent devices popularity in modern society have attracted great attention from experts, scholars and governments both in China and abroad to promote information dissemination across social networks. It is of great significance to establish mathematical models to thoroughly study and explore the intrinsic mechanism and law governing information propagation in online social networks for improving the level of national network information management and taking response measures in period of crisis. However, the existing researches mainly focus on specific topics such as network information dissemination, without systematic review on information dissemination models. Therefore, by collecting, sorting out and refining previous research results in related fields, classical viewpoints and modeling methods covering four aspects of the question are presented in this review article. First, the theory of infectious disease transmission, second, online social network information dissemination, third, online social network information diffusion control mechanism, and lastly, online social network information propagation delay control mechanism. Then, we discuss existing research limitations and possible future research trends with the aim to provide valid references for future researches in relevant fields.
