Abstract

Biodiesel is a sustainable, renewable and alternate fuel for C I Engines. Biodiesel fuelled Engine produces less torque compared to diesel fuelled Engine and higher brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) since it has lower heating value when compared to diesel. Brake thermal efficiency and brake power are also decreased in C I Engines run on biodiesel. Biodiesel produces less CO and unburned THC, but increased CO2 and NOx. These drawbacks can be overcome by adding Nano materials to biodiesel. In the present work, the effect of Graphene Nano material added to honge biodiesel on durability of components of C I Engine and lubricating oil performance have been studied. The concentration of wear elements like Chromium, Copper, Magnesium, Iron, Zinc, Lead and Aluminium is more in lubricating oil of Engine run on Graphene Nano Material Added Honge biodiesel (GNMAHBD). The lubricating oil properties of Engine run on GNMAHBD fuel are deteriorated faster than the properties of lubricating oil of Engine run on diesel, and density & amount of moisture present in lubricating oil of Engine run on GNMAHBD are also increased. The ash content of lubricating oil of Engine run on GNMAHBD is less.
