The Vision of King Abdullah II of Jordan in Spreading the Culture of Tolerance and Countering Terrorism: An Analytical Analysis Study

Abstract

This study aimed to shed light on His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn AL Hussein’s vision in spreading the culture of tolerance and combating terrorism. The study adopted the descriptive-analytical approach by using the discourse analysis methodology. The population of the study is based on the speeches from the Throne delivered by His Majesty and TV and press interviews held at the local, regional and international levels published on the official website of His Majesty King Abdullah II from 1/1/2015-1/1/2020. According to His Majesty`s website, the total number of speeches delivered during that period is (96). As for the sample of the study, it was selected through comprehensive survey of all that has been published on this issue during that period, the total of which was (71) speeches.The study used discourse analysis as an instrument. It also used thematic unity to analyse the thematic content pertaining to His Majesty`s vision under study.
