Abstract

With the development of Internet and Internet of Things, 5G has opened a new era of interconnection, and the technology of Vehicle Ad-hoc Network (VANET) has attracted great attention from all walks of life. However, the MAC protocol proposed at present has many drawbacks in supporting real-time services. To solve this problem, Hybrid MAC protocol, ET-MAC, came up with this paper by combining the Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) defined in IEEE 802.11p technology. Then, a performance comparison with the MAC protocol of the TDMA is performed in a simulation experiment to evaluate the function of the protocol. Finally, the simulation experiment proves that ET-MAC protocol is obviously superior to the MAC protocol based on TDMA is based on transmission delay, network throughput and packet loss rate, and more suitable for the current situation of high-density vehicle network in urban environment.
