Abstract

Vetiveriazizanioides (vetiver grass) is an evergreen, gramineous, and perennial herb, and its appearance is similar to that of lemongrass. Vetiveriazizanioides can prevent soil erosion and is also helpful in rehabilitating metal-polluted soil. Vetiveriazizanioides can prevent soil erosion and is also helpful in rehabilitating metal-polluted soil. In addition, V. zizanioideshas also been cultivated for the production of commercially and medically valued essential oil (VZ EO). VZ EO has frequently been used as an active ingredient and fragrance in foods, aromatic products, and cosmetics. VZ EO has potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antifungal activities. Moreover, VZ EO is a safe and valuable food additive for flavoring syrups, ice cream, and beverages and for food preservation. Therefore, the prospective uses and applications of VZ EO in food science are fairly extensive. In this article, we have discussed the different properties of Vetiveriazizanioides that helps to researchers to get complete information about Vetiveriazizanioides. We also discuss both existing and recent developments of drug delivery using Vetiveriazizanioides in healthcare. We highlight recent research and case studies to show benefits of Vetiveriazizanioides in healthcare applications.
