Abstract

Multimodal transport route choice of refrigerated containers for perishable goods plays an important role in ensuring the quality of goods and reducing the transport cost. This study establishes an optimization model with the minimum objective function of transport cost, transfer cost, refrigeration cost, quality loss cost and carbon emission cost by considering the costs of carbon emission and transport schedule. Towards the characteristics of the optimization model, the genetic algorithm which has strong global search capability is adopted to solve the proposed model. The numerical example closed to the real scene is designed and there are 22 nodes, 73 transport arcs, and four categories of perishable goods OD in the transport network of the example. By using the genetic algorithm to solve the numerical example, it is shown that the proposed algorithm could solve the route optimization problem effectively and has good convergence. The optimization model and algorithm which is constructed in this study could provide theoretical support for multimodal transport decision makers to make transport routes.
