Abstract

In this study focuses on antenna slot dimension by changing the size of the length and width. The study is then furthered to different slot positioning in order to achieve the research’s objectives. The aim of the study is to design an antenna that can operate at Ku band and X band simultaneously. With the antenna frequency designed at 8GHz and 15GHz, the size of the slot determines the desired results. Slots are etched using different sizes and the data are analyzed. Besides the frequency resonant, the return loss of both frequencies must be at -10 dB to ensure that the design will radiate well. The gain at 8GHz and 15GHz are above 7 dB. For the antenna design, the materials used are Rogers RT58880 with dielectric constant at 2.2 for the substrate and copper for the radiating patch and ground. Etching the slots with different dimensions helps to design the antenna at the desired specifications. Ku band and X band radio frequency spectrum are both used for satellite and radar applications.
