Abstract

Shellfish is one of the solid waste materials that accumulate quickly in coastal areas, can cause a foul odour, so it needs attention. Various studies have been carried out for the reuse of shellfish waste, one of which is as a substitute for coarse aggregate gravel in the manufacture of concrete. The use of solid waste shells in the concrete mix can be considered as a sustainable construction application by producing green concrete that has a minimal negative impact on the environment compared to conventional concrete..

The purpose of this research is to utilize solid waste of shells as a substitute for a coarse aggregate of concrete cube samples, including age and weight of concrete cube samples and analyze the compressive strength and stress of concrete cube samples with a mixture of shell solid waste according to SNI03-2491-2002. The method used in this research is an experimental method, with variables of 3 (three) kinds of shells, the composition of the ratio of cement to sand, and the age of the concrete.

The results of this study stated that the shells of blood, green and bamboo clams can be used as heat in the manufacture of concrete cubes. The results of the compressive test showed that the shells of blood clams, green mussels and bamboo mussels, their compressive strength increased at 7, 14, 21 and 28 days of age. Concrete with an aggregate of blood clam shell solid waste and bamboo shells has higher compressive strength and concrete stress than green mussel shell solid waste aggregate, and has been included in non-structural class 1 concrete, or can be used as road construction, or a type of columnar foundation

The conclusion is that the solid waste of blood clamshells and bamboo can be used as aggregate in making concrete so that it can be used as a substitute for coarse aggregate in making concrete and reducing fine aggregate in making paving.
