Abstract

Over the last couple of decades, there has been a considerable role reversal affecting both men and women. Women are now more in number in the labor force at a higher rate than ever before, owing to increased educational attainments and shifting societal attitudes. Due to availability of  talented and educated Indian women professionals, India is now at an advantage in the IT race. However, on the flip side, there is increasing pressure on women IT professionals due to the huge demand to balance their professional and personal lives. Work-Life Balance of the female employees is a major concern for many corporations in the Information Technology (IT) sector.  Professional and personal lives are two sides of the same coin, while any imbalance between the two causes stress, fatigue, poor performance, deteriorating health quality, time management issues, a lack of proper social support, stunted career growth, elderly, and childcare issues. The current study looks at some of the factors that influence stress and work-life balance in women IT professionals in general and specifically those working in IT companies in Telangana state. The data for the study was gathered from professionals working in IT companies for the state, mostly from companies operating in and around the major IT hub i.e., Hyderabad city to identify the factors that contribute to stress and affect work-life balance. For data analysis, the statistical tools viz., Percentage analysis and Correlation are used. The study's findings show that there is no significant relationship between age and the amount of stress that women IT professionals experience, but there is a positive relationship between working late nights and stress. In addition, the study found a link between organizational initiatives to manage work-life balance and women professionals experiencing stress relief. A negative relationship has been discovered between the number of hours a respondent sleeps and whether or not they suffer from stress.
