Beyond The Melting Pot-The Social Heritage of Tibetan Refugee’s In Indian Himalayas

Abstract

This paper focuses on studying the Tibetan refugees settled in the Indian Himalayas, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim and West Bengal. The researcher through qualitative analysis tries to understand the changes in socio cultural identity undergone by the Tibetan refugees settled in these settlements. The paper studies the perspectives of the refugees in terms of culture and identity and how different generation has different perspective of the same notion. This paper also tries to understand the relation between identity and culture and how assimilation with the host community plays and important role in shaping and formation of ideas among the refugees.
