Abstract

In the present era when the competition is growing so enormously globally, it has become essential for all the manufacturing/production industries to perform efficiently and deliver at the faster rate during their expected life span. This is the reason which makes it essential for the industrial systems to invest in the process of reliability and availability analysis. For process plants like chemical, sugar, paper, dairy, thermal etc., it has become obligatory to know about the reliability and availability of the equipments that are used in the process in order to maintain high profit and productivity. Different approaches like genetic algorithm, fault tree analysis, failure mode and effect analysis, petri-nets, supplementary variable technique, fuzzy Lambda-Tau technique, reliability, availability, maintainability and dependability analysis, degradation modeling techniques etc. are concerned with the performance evaluation of various operating systems in process industries. In the present paper, the review is done to analyze these approaches in different dairy industries.
