How does Environmental Regulation Promote the Green Growth of Urban Industries?——Empirical Data from 284 Cities in China

Abstract

How can environmental regulations promote the green growth of urban industries? This article uses panel data from 284 cities in China from 2009 to 2016 to explore the role and pathways of environmental regulations for urban industrial green growth. The study found that environmental regulations will not only have a direct impact on industrial green growth, but will also have an indirect impact through factors such as FDI and human capital levels. Technological innovation is an intermediary factor that environmental regulations affect regional industrial green growth. This paper verifies the impact mechanism of environmental regulations on industrial green growth, deepens the knowledge and understanding of industrial green growth, and provides a useful reference for accelerating enterprise technological innovation and promoting industrial green growth.
