Abstract

Analyzing human language is often a complicated process as it requires dealing with grammatical nuances and linguistic variations of great magnitude. Lack of contextual understanding makes the process of extracting sentiment problematic, but the advances in computational techniques can facilitate the process of regulating the emotion and tone behind a series of texts and derive the attitude, emotion, and opinion of the speaker. Engineering students in India face the crisis in the job market due to lack of necessary communication skills after their graduation. The engineering students who have better communication skills in English get good jobs during the campus placement drive and settle in life. This article aims at developing communication skills of a group of engineering students of advanced background and a group of students from disadvantaged background. It’s a common fact that most of the engineering classes are highly heterogeneous in nature and students of mixed ability. Acquiring mastery in English is a possible goal and it can be achieved with a systematic approach, different learning strategies, using various learning tools and techniques. This paper presents literature review related to this title and also various methodologies, tools and techniques to enhance the communication skills of the mixed engineering classrooms. It discusses about the feedback as a technic for improving communication skills and better their spoken and written communication of the engineering students. Enhancing communication skills of the engineering students would result in better placement opportunities for them and it would help them to enhance their self-esteem. The engineering students with better communication can face the global job market with self- confidence.
