The Serial Mediation Effect of Employee Green Commitment and Environmental Knowledge on the Relationship between Green Human Resource Management and Employee Green Behavior

Abstract

Organizations are more concerned about environment performance and focuses on Corporate social and environment responsibility. It can be supported through enriching Green Human Resource Management. Green Human Resource Management and Employee Green Behavior are the emerging concept vital for both organization and environment. This paper empirically tests the relationship between Green Human Resource Management and Employee Green Behavior with the serial mediation of the variables Environment Knowledge of employees and Employee Green Commitment. The relationship between the variables Green Human Resource Management, Environment Knowledge, Employee Green Commitment and Employee Green Behavior were tested. It is tested through hierarchical regression whether Green Human Resource Management, Employee Green Commitment and Environment Knowledge predict Employee Green Behavior. The direct and indirect effects among paths were explored using Hayes Process Macro. The results revealed that there is significant partial serial mediation effect between Green Human Resource Management and Employee Green Behavior. It is found that when the companies GHRM practices are good, it positively affects the environment behavior of employees as they gain environment knowledge and environment commitment.
