Abstract

Utilization of fly ash, silica fume and GGBS in the concrete has become a recent trend in the fast few decades. The performance of industrial by-products in the concrete as a replacement of cement / fine aggregate is significant effects than conventional concrete. There is a rapid growth in the use of Self compacting Concrete (SCC) in the construction industry around the world. The utilization of mineral admixtures as replacement for fine aggregate in the production of SCC not only overcomes the depletion of fine aggregate but also provides economic benefits to the country. Research studies are already available on the usage of Fly ash and GGBS in conventional concrete with replacement of cement and also reported that increases the strength properties of concrete, decreases the heat of hydration and it contributes to reduction in  the consumption of natural resources. Some mineral admixtures may improve physical properties and reduce thermally-induced cracking of concrete due to the reduction in the overall heat of hydration and increase the workability and durability properties of concrete.
