Abstract

The research objectives were to analyze and compare the present and desirable conditions and needs of knowledge management and develop a model of knowledge management. The two-phase study started by collecting data from the sample of 741 farmers with a questionnaire. The second phase involved a multi-case study from three Best Practice organizations with a case study form and in-depth interview form for data collecting. The model confirmation employed a connoisseurship meeting. Data analyses comprised descriptive statistics, Paired-Samples t-Test, Modified Priority Index (PNImodified), content analysis, and inductive summary. The findings are the following; The present condition has the operation at a low level and the desirable condition at a high level with 0.01 statistically significant difference in all dimensions. The needs are present in all dimensions, and the model of knowledge management for modern agriculture rice farming consists of an analysis of farmers’ condition with SOAR Analysis, and the formation of shared policy and shared vision with farmers. The knowledge management process comprises 4 dimensions. The suitability and feasibility assessment are rated high overall.
