Metaphor and Synesthesia: CrossGenerational Design Research on Product Information
Abstract
With the intensification of the course of aging society, more and more products are faced with
the reality of cross-generation, that is, how to realize the sharing and communication of the
same product among user groups with different ages, especially the improvement of
information interaction experience. This paper, based on aging, elaborates the internal
connection between cross-generational design, user perception, and information transmission.
It analyzes the multi-relevance metaphor that is based on the parallel of cross-generational users
and multi-dimension synaesthesia method that is based on the superposition of crossgenerational users. Taking microwave information optimization as an example, feasibility of
this theory is verified, and a new strategy of cross-generational design of product information
is constructed.
