A Review on Local Area Planning and Challenges

Abstract

Local area planning is a kind of planning that focuses on addressing problems and challenges at the neighbourhood level. Its primary objectives are the welfare of the populace and the development of the local region. Among its ongoing priorities are the maintenance of social services and facilities, the promotion of the quality and quantity of indigenous goods and services, and the preservation of the surrounding and local environment. It is the smallest planning unit in terms of persons and locations in terms of size. A participatory planning process reveals a fantasy of a genuine scenario reflecting ongoing growth and development in the local region. Fundamentally, planning is about people and places; about the communities in which we live and their destinies. We must consider the entire country, its physical infrastructure, and our social and economic aspirations when planning for our futures, while also attempting to meet and address local issues and needs through the alignment of local area planning with city and country development plans, regional planning guidelines, and national planning objectives. As such, these Guidelines have been created in awareness of the critical nature of sound planning practises for local communities, their position within a broader planning framework, and the critical nature of those communities' participation in the planning process. These Guidelines are especially relevant, since municipal and county development plans have just been revised to include core principles. Planning authorities are now obliged to evaluate the compatibility of current local area plans with core strategies and, where appropriate, to revise them in order to integrate local planning with strategic city and county development goals. We think that using a comprehensive approach to planning will result in a more consistent and effective strategy throughout the nation.
