Abstract

In recent years, more focus has been paid to brain biometrics research with electroencephalographic data (EEG). The scientific community has recently made huge efforts to perceive the distinctive characteristics of brain signal patterns.Several methodologies for analysis of EEG data with different ways of signal processing and pattern-recognition algorithms have been suggested and prototyped.Since human brain processes represented by EEG brainwave signals are more secret, sensitive and impossible to steal and copy, they are committed to a biometric approach to user identification and authentication that is more safer. The technique is somewhat easier as devices can offer better mobility in a lower calibration time as a result of the new technical development of EEG signal collecters. Researchers currently focus on the implementation with higher accuracy of computationally low-cost systems irrespective of complicated tasks. This article describes a number of devices, public databases and approaches employed in the last years to get signals from the brain, extract characteristics and categorize them. All of this was concentrated in the years 2015-2020.
