Abstract

In this paper a review about several studies theinternal cooling techniques by ribbed and without ribs channels. Thus, the ribs and its shapes should to investigate to find the optimumshapes.Ribbed channels are commonly used to increase surface area of heat transfer and improvement pressure drop.Since the presence of ribs in the channels generated a turbulence flow by breaking the laminar sub-layer, if compared with the smooth channel. This paper focuses on using ribs for the enhancement of convection heat transfer and turbulence with several configurations. The review contains a classification of heat transfer enhancement when working fluid one or two components flow, thermal efficiency, ribs angles or orientation, ribs arrangements. This paper also includes performance analysis in two-pass ribbed channels. The ribbed channels applications heat exchanger, blade of gas turbine solar air heater, power plants and piping systems .This paper benefits researchers that focus on the U-ribbed channels.
