Analysis of Main Roadways Network within Al-Hilla City
Abstract
The roadway's network analysis is an efficient method that can help to determine the traffic volume's effect, such as traveling time. Al-Hilla is one of the urban centers that suffers from heavy crowding during the peak hours (7:30 – 9:30) AM and (1:30 – 3:30) PM due to a vital center. For this reason, the high traffic will increase traveling time, which will lead to several problems such as large traffic jams, accidents, a high rate of pollution, and others. Two software are used to overcome this problem, namely, Sidra and Geographic Information Systems (GIS 10.7), for roadway network analysis by collecting different data types. The results show that the high traffic volumes of vehicles and the inadequate infrastructure are among the main reasons for the increase in congestion, leading to an increase in the traffic capacity of the roadways, which in turn causes an increase in the travel time network.
