Abstract

Human efforts revealed geopolymers as new construction materials with low environmental impacts compared to Portland cement composites. High rate of energy consumption, green gas emission is being among the major bad factors relating to the environmental impacts. The invented geopolymers proved good mechanical properties as well as advanced durability performances. However, the need for energy to activate the geopolymerization process is still a drawback, such as the type of material. So, several advanced efforts have been paid to overcome such defects. This paper reviews the literature dealing with producing geopolymers, with completely echo-friendly geopolymers assuring minimization of energy consumption. Producing geopolymers at ambient temperature, using admixtures, one-part geopolymers…etc, are being reviewed. Also, Physical, mechanical, and durability performances are reviewed.
