Economic Analysis Study of Methanol Synthesis Process using Different Raw Materials
Abstract
This paper presents economic analysis of methanol production and a systematic approach for comparison between different methanol production techniques according to different feedstock. Natural gas, carbon dioxide and hydrogen, and biomass are the three different feeds used in this study for methanol production. Analysis and simulation of the three different cases have been performed to determine minimum production cost per each tonne of methanol. Results showed that the total methanol production cost using mixture of Hydrogen and carbon dioxide is extremely high. Thus, it is appeared that natural gas is the most appropriate feedstock for the production of methanol.
