Abstract

As the BeiDou system proceeds to the final globalization stage, the reliable fusion of multiple Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) with BeiDou will be the trend of future positioning. Based on the introduced Position Dilution of Precision (PDOP) mathematical model as well as the calculation method, the BeiDou hybrid constellation and Galileo constellation are built on the base of the official Kepler orbit parameters, and the preliminary analysis of the PDOP values and the number of visible satellites (NVSAT) have been performed under the condition of the 5° cut-off elevation angle and the global 5° by 2.5° resolution. The results show that the minimum satellite number for BeiDou can reach 9 and maximum number can reach up to 16, the satellite number increases to 19~28 when combined with Galileo. The minimum PDOP value of the stand-alone BeiDou system is 1.29 and the maximum value reaches 2.38, while the minimum value reduces to 0.96 and the maximum value reduce to 1.45 when integrated with Galileo. The positioning performance based on BeiDou system with the latitude 70°E~160°E and longitude 70°S~70°N area is obviously superior to the other area.
