Abstract

Now a days organic products are considered as healthy by most of the buyers as these are made up of natural substances. Organic products are grown without the use of fertilizers, artificial chemicals, and pesticides. The Indian organic market although in its nascent stage, has started growing rapidly. Customer prefer organic product due to safety, human health, and environmental concern and also due to attributes like nutrition value, taste, freshness and appearance of organic product matters a lot for consumers. An organic product is made from materials produced by organic agriculture. There are different types of organic products. However organic product is more known for food items like organic grocery, organic vegetables, organic certified food etc. Most appropriately organic products can be explained as any product that is made or cultivated organically should be treated as an organic product. Consumers have started to look for safer and better controlled foods, produced in more environmentally friendly and local systems. Organic production is an overall system of farm management and food production that aims at sustainable agriculture, high-quality products and the use of processes that do not harm the environment or human, plant or animal health and welfare. Organic food consumption has become the trend of the time, owing to the multiple health benefits that it offers. Organic food is absolutely natural and is packed with load of vital nutrients which is required by the body. Hence, an attempt has been made to reveal the consumer perception towards organic products in Namakkal District.
