Abstract

The commercial guild halls built in Ming and Qing Dynasties are of great significance to the
study of the society, economy, and merchant culture of Henan Province in Ming and Qing
Dynasties. The spatial distribution characteristics of commercial guilds have an important
influence on the current regional tourism pattern of Henan Province. From the aspects of
spatial distribution pattern, distribution difference, and distribution density, this paper uses
the methods of Nearest-Neighbor Distance, Elison-Glaeser Index, and Kernel Density
Estimation to make quantitative analysis on the guild halls built in Henan from Ming Dynasty to
the Republic of China over 500 years. It also discusses the relationship between the
distribution of commercial guild halls and the factors of commercial center, administrative
center and transportation hub by using the method of spatial regression analysis. The results
show that the guilds in Henan are more in the southeast than in the northwest, with significant
spatial differences. The results of spatial regression analysis show that there are more
commercial guilds in commercial towns, capitals, and convenient transportation areas.
