Abstract

Sea food is one of the main constituents of the total food budget of the world’s human population and fish is the main ingredient. Coastal zone of West Bengal and Odisha are the main fishing zones of the two states and is a major part of the economy of the coastal settlement. Fishing in the ocean is carried out all through the year and catches like Hilsa, Parshe, Gurjali and some shrimps are of strong economic importance of the Bengal-Odisha coastal region. Socio-economically people are happy with their occupation and trade and urge to continue with their occupation with more advanced and modern technologies for betterment of their economic status.
