Socio-economic and communication profile for using cashless system by respondents

Abstract

Cashless economy is an economy where transactions can be done without necessarily carrying physical cash as a means of exchange of transaction but, rather with the use of credit or debit card payment for goods and services (Ejiro, 2012). The present study was conducted in Hisar district of Haryana state covering 200 respondents from two localities viz., rural and urban. Results shows that majority of respondents from below 35 years of age group were graduated and unmarried, who had nuclear type of family having up to 5 members in a family and belonged to general caste and had no membership. The respondents had their own independent profession with the monthly income above Rs.10, 000, who had pucca house and were landless.

majority of respondents had possession of Cable TV, followed by television and newspaper and had high mass media exposure. Most of the respondents had high utilization of localite sources and low utilization of cosmopolite sources and exposure of PayTm for using cashless system, followed by credit card and internet banking.
