A SCALABLE TRUST MANAGEMENT APPROACH FOR MOBILE COMPUTING
Abstract
Normally, mobile devices have become the best companions in daily activities. They have served us from the simple activities like entertainment to the complicated one as business operations. As playing the important roles, mobile devices deserve to work in the environment which they can trust for serving us better. Providing a trustworthy mobile computing platform is crucial for mobile communications, services and applications. In this work we study methodologies and mechanisms that can be used to provide a trustworthy mobile computing platform. We also present a scalable trust management solution for a component software middleware platform targeting at an embedded device, such as a mobile phone. In this work the metrics used for estimating trust of distributed systems. In the estimating trust, node failure is categorized into two types - recoverable and irrecoverable. It is seen that introduction of fault tolerance proves beneficial in the long run.
