An Overview of Security Issues and Various Attacks in Distributed Control Systems with Cyber Physical Systems

Abstract

Distributed Control System with Cyber Physical system which is an evolving technology implemented in applications such as smart grids, air transport, healthcare, automotive, robotic systems, Defense, environmental monitoring, process control systems etc. DCS has many numbers of distributed local controllers in various sections of plant control area and are connected via a high speed communication network.CPS is an integration of Physical system and cyber system which interact with each other in different ways each operating on different spatial and temporal scale .CPS performs the computation that monitor, control, and communicate with physical continuous process engineered systems. Many clusters of processing elements are interconnected with wired or wireless networked systems. The distributed systems along with security factors have incurred huge costs and have prone to   vulnerabilities. The security attacks on the distributed systems are gaining secret information, making assumptions on the identity of users, and tempering of messages that is changes in   message content, replay of messages and denial of services attacks
