Review on Battery Management System for Electric Vehicles

Abstract

In current scenario, Electric Vehicles (EVs) are one among the most popular extensively researched areas. Today, with the increased social and economic demands many researchers are owing to development of efficient energy saving methods to achieve better transportation facilities. Electric vehicles contribute significantly for the reduction of harmful pollutants. Efficient Battery management system plays key role for achieving the reliable operation in EVs. Key functioning of BMS is discussed for accomplishing the efficient designing techniques with BMS topologies like Centralized System, Modularized System, Distributed System and Decentralized System. Along with BMS topologies cell balancing schemes, modelling techniques of BMS are reviewed and presented. This survey helps to select and address the various issues in BMS.
