Abstract

Recently, there was an urgent need to use environmentally friendly materials with low economic costs in the construction of buildings, and one of those materials was clay deposits. This study aims to manufacture of installed clay bricks  with cement using clay deposits in Fatha and Injana formation in eastern Iraq, this research included the study of 120 samples that used cement contents (8%, 12%, 15%) by weight of soil. The produced  installed clay bricks were subjected to bulk density, apparent porosity, water absorption, compressive strength and  efflorescence tests. The study results show the compressive strength is increased with increasing  cement content, but the ratio (12%) cement achieved the highest compressive strength, Degree of efflorescence for all produced bricks is generally low.The study reached to classify the brick samples into class (A) according to the requirements of Iraqi and international standards,  And through the results of installing clay bricks with cement, It was found that  is better in terms quality and ease of production, in addition it is an environmentally friendly product.
