Abstract

An epileptic fit is a sudden movement that is resulted from losing consciousness that is usually characterized to be an unmanageable movement caused by the epilepsy disorder. In this paper, we propose a system based on Smartphone accelerations sensors utilization for epilepsy patient warning that was built in Java programming language. The first step is to record the signals of the three acceleration sensors, which in turn transmit the movements of the mobile (patient) and the compensating treatment was done for ground acceleration for the total or resultant acceleration. We relied on algorithms and equations to calculate the speed and distance in the three axes as well as the speed and distance from the total acceleration result after deleting the ground acceleration. A new and innovative database was built by adopting acceleration sensors in the Smartphone and the Java program, as well as computer-based software using analogies to make these data references for comparing and distinguishing the movement of the patient. An auto-correlation was made between the patient's movement and the reference information in order to determine whether the movement was normal or if it was an epileptic wave. The degree of congruence was up to 99 %.
