Abstract

The shortage of clean water resources around the globe has created a requirement for their optimum utilization. Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, based on the application specific sensors’ data acquisition and intelligent processing, are bridging the gaps between the cyber and physical worlds. IoT based smart irrigation systems can help in achieving optimum water-resource utilization in the precision farming landscape.  This is achieved by using hydel and solar power generation technique. The power generated by this technique is stored in battery and is used to operate all the sensors and motors for smart irrigation. The flow of water in timely-basis is controlled by using solenoid valves and a microcontroller. The micro-controller receives instructions from the user through an android application. The data is transferred from the mobile application to the microcontroller through Google firebase cloud server. By using cloud server, the user is equipped with the facility to control and monitor the irrigation scheme from any remote location. Hence even though the end user is not present at his facility, he/she can control the watering system. A new technique is introduced to suck the excess water which is caused due to rainfall. These processes are made automatic and is connected to cloud thus resulting in continuous monitoring using Internet Of Things. Design changes have been made for irrigation technique thus improving the efficiency of water supply.
