Abstract

With the speedy growth of transportation industry, serious problems of huge energy consumption and pollution arise. In order to accurately analyze the transportation CO2 emission and potentially affecting factors that expedite CO2 emitting from Henan transportation, based on the up-to-bottom calculation method, the CO2 emitting from Henan transportation energy consumption from 2008 to 2017 are evaluated, and the Kaya identity is extended in combination with the development characteristics of transportation industry. LMDI is utilized to analyze CEPC, CEI and CEPT. Consequently, the results reveal that: (1) CO2 emissions in Henan transportation industry show the change trend of rising first and then stabilizing; (2) the positive drivers for the increase of CO2 emissions are economic development and the added value of turnover per unit, while the negative drivers leading to increase of CO2 emitting are the structure of transportation energy, the intensity of transportation energy and the intensity of transportation; (3) the decisive factor resulting in the rise of CO2 emitting is the expansion of economic output scale, and the main factor reducing CO2 emitting is reduction of transportation intensity. Finally, based on the study results, the paper proposes some relevant environmental governance policy recommendations from the perspectives of the passenger transport and the freight transport.
