Abstract

Biodiesel emerged as one of the best alternative fuels which meets the global demand at no environmental harm. The present work is emphasized on the combustion and performance of sesame biodiesel and evaluates its properties. Increasing demand for fossil fuels in various applications poses a great threat in terms of rising global emission levels. And thus, there is need for growth prospects within the alternative fuel market. In the present study, sesame oil methyl ester was blended with diesel in various proportions like B5, B10, B15, and B20 and then its impacts on the diesel engine were investigated. Thermo-physical characteristics of all test fuel have been calculated and also the combustion and performance characteristics such as in-cylinder pressure, temperature, heat release, brake power, volumetric efficiency etc. were examined for sesame biodiesel blends and diesel using testing strategies. This paper reveals the properties of sesame oil methyl ester and its key performance at different load conditions.
