Abstract

In this research an optimal controller of fractional order is implemented for a second order DC buck converter for output voltage control. DC buck converter is used for power conversion, which step down the high range dc input voltage to low range dc output voltage. The tuning factors of controller are derived using a Nelder- Mead(NM) optimization and a newly evolved meta-heuristic Grey Wolf optimizer technique and their performance in each case are compared. Simulation outcomes demonstrate the superior performance of GWO based FOPI controller and enhanced dynamic response, improve stability and the robustness of the system.
