Abstract

With the overall improvement of the world's sports standards, Asian countries are paying more and more attention to sports. At the same time, the competition among big powers has not only been the economic and military competition but also the competition of soft power such as sports and culture. In this paper, Markov chain model is applied to predicting the number of participating countries in the Asian Games and the competitive level of participating countries. Through the principal component analysis, the number of participating countries in the successive Asian Games and the previous gold medals in South Korea and Japan are selected as the research objects, and quantity levels are divided. The result shows that the quantity level of the participating countries in the 18th Asian Games may be 2 or 4, the level of Japanese gold medals in the 18th Asian Games may be 3, and the quantity level of gold medals of South Korea in the 18th Asian Games may be 4.
