Abstract

The experiment was carried out at the College of Agriculture - University of Kirkuk during the agricultural seasons 2018 and 2019 to study the effect of speed and depth of ploughing on some technical indicators of mechanical unit and physical soil characteristics using a rotary plough. The experiment included 12 treatments, which are the compatibility between two depths of ploughing (2.20 and 3.87 cm) with two rotational speeds of rotary plough (124.6 and 100.4 rpm). According to the Randomized Complete Block Design (R.C.B.D), the experiment was carried out by the Split Blocks Method and with three replicates. The differences between the averages were tested according to the Least Significant Difference (L.S.D.). The results showed the significant effect of the rotational speed treatment and the ploughing depth on the fuel consumption characteristic (l ha-1) (p< 0.01). The second rotational speed (V2) and the first ploughing depth (D1) had less fuel consumption (28.31 and 29.96 l ha-1) respectively. The interference between the rotational speed and the first ploughing depth (V1D1) had the highest effective and theoretical field capacities that were 0.08 and 0.11 ha h-1 respectively. The interference between the rotational speed and the depth of the first ploughing (V1D1) had the lowest slip rate (11.61%).
