Usage Based Loss Allocation To Generators In Single Area Power System
Abstract
The tracking of power flow and the allocation of transmission losses have become extremely important following the privatisation of the electricity industry. A node-based strategy from the point of view of either the seller or the buyer is used to determine the current contributed by each generator based on circuit theory. It operates on the principle of proportional power sharing at each node between the lines and can be implemented easilyy, as only a solved power flow and branch-bus flow-direction matrix are needed. A complete methodology to allocate losses to generators based on usage based coefficients has been presented. The complete mathematical modeling based on tracing has been presented using power flow contribution in power losses. The methodology has been tested on IEEE-14 bus test systems with supporting numerical and graphical results.
