Abstract

With the advent of big data, EHR will become more important than ever and could prove to be critical for containing future pandemics. Our project proposes a new technique for storage of EHR using distributed file systems. The protection of EHR allows for complete patient privacy as patients have the authority to allow or deny anyone to have access to their records and the use of distributed file system for storing and sharing makes the data decentralized and immutable. An EHR should only be accessed and shared by authorized health care providers such as doctors, nurses, lab technicians due to its function to record any critical information considering for every patient, hence making cloud storage a less than ideal alternative. This project essentially focuses on creating a new system for protection of EHR.
