Survey of Deduplication Techniques and application of their Methodologies in Cloud

Abstract

Deduplication of data is helpful for the using disk space efficiently and proves as a solution for preventing data redundancy. Deduplication process allows only unique set of data to be stored in the storage and all other copies are pointed towards connecting pointer that points towards unique data. In case of cloud computing, privacy of data is the major issue to be concerned. This paper studies about different deduplication techniques and their methods. The survey results are arranged in a table format for the easy understanding of development in deduplication techniques. During thesurvey, it is known that confidentiality and security of user data is compromised at different stages. Thus, it is essential that extra secure method is needed in data deduplication.
