Small-scale Limited Online Courses and MOOC Based English Teaching

Abstract

This paper mainly discusses the mature and practical methods of converting the regular courses
into MOOC in English teaching for Colleges and universities.It is mainly divided into two
stages. The first step is to convert the existing courses into small-scale restricted online course
(SPOC) and conventional teaching methods, which are carried out simultaneously with the
course teaching; the second step is carried out after a semester, which is open to the outside
world like MOOC.First of all, part of the content of the regular course is designed into SPOC
mode, and then the workload of conversion should be reduced. In the teaching process, SPOC
that can cover part of the content of the regular course will be gradually completed. Finally,
because the conversion requires a lot of work, the possible risks in MOOC will be greatly
reduced in SPOC.
