Abstract

This paper highlights on the study of flow of energy in an electrical installation at the demand side. The detail study is done using an energy management tool energy audit. A 220/ 66kV substation is identified and a detail study is carried out to assess the energy flow at different stages of the substation. The energy losses in the distribution system are not measured but they are estimated, this is because of inadequate metering system and high costs involved in data collection. The estimated values are used to access the losses of energy in the system and suggest recommendations to improve the overall efficiency of energy. This paper presents results obtained from energy audit of the 66 kV distribution feeders and data collected from previous records.
